58th Season Finale Wrap-Up

Sunday, May 10th, 2015 was a day worthy of remembrance in the FSYO archives, as the orchestra wrapped up its 58th season with stellar performances at the Bob Carr. Selections from Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Rossini, among others, enthralled the audience throughout the afternoon. Symphonic's principal floutist, Jessica Chancey, made her solo debut on stage as she performed Franz Doppler's Pastorale Hongroise with the orchestra. The day was tinged with sadness, however, as it marked FSYO's final concert with Maestro Andy Lane, conductor of the Symphonic orchestra and a long-standing member of the organization. As a farewell to the esteemed conductor, students and alumni presented an emotional thank-you video to Maestro Lane, in which students expressed their thanks and said their good-byes to their teacher, while Symphonic's rendition of Mahler's 5th Symphony played in the background. Additionally, the organization presented Maestro Lane with a memoir in the form of a published photo album, containing memories from his performances, adventures, and good times with FSYO in the past.

In addition to the concert, FSYO hosted a silent auction in which over 90 gift baskets full of goods donated by local businesses were put up for bids. All in all, the organization brought in almost $8000! This year, FSYO farewelled 25 graduating seniors. Check out their senior bios and our silent auction donors below:
