For an organization that has been serving Central Florida for over 70 years, it is only natural for the organization to grow to further our mission. As FSYO enters its Platinum Season, we are excited to welcome new Artistic and Administrative team members who will help us continue our growth and better serve our community.
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Thad Anderson as FSYO's new Percussion Ensemble Director. Dr. Anderson is a Professor of Music at the University of Central Florida where he coordinates the Percussion Studies program, teaches applied lessons, and directs both the UCF Percussion Ensemble and the New Music Ensemble. He joins FSYO with a wealth of experience and expertise that will greatly benefit our Percussion Ensemble members. You can learn more about Dr. Anderson on the FSYO website.
Jaelyn Floyd joins the Administrative Team as FSYO's new Operations Coordinator. Jaelyn is an experienced musician and recent graduate of the Frost School of Music's Master of Arts in Live Entertainment Management Program. She earned her bachelor's degree in Music Performance from the University of North Florida, where she studied violin, while also completing additional coursework in Music Education. After interning with FSYO during the 69th season, we are excited to welcome Jaelyn to the team in this full-time role.
FSYO is also excited to announce the promotion of Development Coordinator, Cameron Frye, to Director of Advancement. Over the past three seasons, Cameron has significantly expanded FSYO's fundraising initiatives, resulting in doubled contributed revenue, an 85% increase in the organization's donor base, improved donor retention each season, and nearly doubled grant funding. FSYO is grateful for Cameron's dedication and commitment to advancing our mission.
During this time of transition, we also want to thank both Mr. Eddie Fee, Jr. and Tremon Kizer as they conclude their service on the Board of Directors. Both Eddie and Tremon served on FSYO’s Board for nine years, and we are grateful for their leadership, guidance, and contributions to FSYO. Fee served as Board President for three seasons and helped lead the organization through the pandemic, and Kizer continued to be a strong advocate for music education and ensured FSYO stayed true to its mission throughout his entire tenure. FSYO is stronger because of these incredible Board Members, and we are indebted to them for their ongoing dedication to our community.
We look forward to building on the strong foundation established by our Board of Directors and Administrative Team as we continue FSYO’s 70 year legacy of empowering young musicians.

ABOUT FSYO: Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras empowers young musicians to achieve excellence and inspire their communities through a shared love of music. In its 70th Concert Season, FSYO serves over 300 students and comprises eight ensembles - three symphony orchestras, two string orchestras, two jazz bands, and a percussion ensemble.
FSYO programs are carefully structured to encourage student growth with FSYO throughout their primary and secondary years. Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras’ full range of ensembles offers each member a place to excel with peers at a similar level and an opportunity to collaborate with seasoned music professionals on local, national, and international levels. During the summer, tour ensemble members participate in life-changing experiences of organized tours every other year.
