Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras' Stringmania Summer Camp is a musically enriching program for student musicians. Participants are provided with fun yet challenging musical experiences that include: string orchestra experiences, instruction in fiddling and improvisation, and more. Stringmania culminates in a camp showcase at the end of each session, and this year, FSYO is offering TWO separate sessions. Stringmania Sessions

Stringmania - Apprentice
Stringmania - Apprentice is recommended for students who have not yet played in an ensemble. Attendees will learn about the intricacies of being an ensemble player and gain experience in collaborating with like minded students.

About the Conductor: Samantha George just completed her 7th year of teaching in Orange County Public Schools (OCPS). She spent 4 years building the orchestra program at Westridge Middle School before transferring over to Maitland Middle School in 2022. Her orchestras consistently receive Superiors at district Music Performance Assessments and perform in many community events throughout the year. Ms. George is returning for her 2nd year of working with Stringmania.
Originally from Orlando, Ms. George is herself an alumni of FSYO as well as a graduate of the Dr. Phillips High School Visual and Performing Arts Magnet. She then earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Florida State University. Since moving back to Orlando, she has conducted and led sectionals for All County orchestras, adjudicated Solo & Ensemble events across the state, and been an active member in Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras as a sectional coach. Ms. George is primarily a violist and performs locally at churches, weddings, and other events in the Central Florida area.

Stringmania - Mezzo
Stringmania - Mezzo is geared towards students who have more than one to two years of experience playing in an orchestra setting. Camp attendees will hone their skills of ensemble playing and connect with other string students from across Central Florida.

About the Conductor: Lisa Coyne is a passionate cellist and dedicated music educator currently serving as the Orchestra Director at University High School in Orlando, Florida. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance with a concentration in Cello and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Florida, as well as a Master of Music Education from Florida State University.
Lisa has studied with esteemed cellists Jessica Talbott and Nick Curry and is registered in Suzuki Books 1-5, having trained extensively in the Suzuki Teaching Method with Dr. Melissa Kraut. She has a strong background in chamber music, having pursued intensive study at the Wintergreen Chamber Music Festival in Virginia with cellist Wesley Baldwin, where she performed in a string quartet, and at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Vermont with cellist Robert Jesselson, where she performed in a piano quintet. Additionally, Lisa has performed in masterclasses for world-renowned artists, including the Montrose Trio, Clive Greensmith, Melissa Kraut, Mihai Tetel, and others.
Since founding the University High School Orchestra program in 2018, Lisa has led it to significant growth and success. The program has expanded considerably, with students achieving Superior ratings at District and State Music Performance Assessments annually. The Chamber Orchestra has collaborated with the theater department to accompany productions such as White Christmas, and many students have proudly represented the program in All-County and All-State Orchestras. This season, the University High School Chamber Orchestra will take the stage at the prestigious Steinmetz Hall as part of the Inaugural University of Central Florida’s Celebrates the Arts Orchestra Invitational.
How do I apply for Stringmania Summer Camp?
Complete this Registration Form by July 7, 2025 and submit your Deposit.
How much does Stringmania Summer Camp cost?
Depending on which Stringmania Session you attend, the cost will vary between $300 to $400, and a $100 deposit is due at time of enrollment to hold your seat. Deposits can be made by card online here or by check made out to FSYO. Checks need to be mailed to PO Box 2328 Winter Park, FL 32790. There is also an option to pay the Full Tuition at time of registration.
Where will Stringmania take place?
All Stringmania sessions will take place at First United Methodist Church of Orlando (142 E Jackson St, Orlando, FL 32801).
When and where will the concert take place?
The Stringmania Concert will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 6 PM at First United Methodist Church of Orlando (142 E Jackson St, Orlando, FL 32801), and this concert will include both the Apprentice and Mezzo camp session students.
