FSYO Announces 58th Season Opening Concert
ORLANDO, FL – The Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra's 58th Season opens with an October 12th concert at the historic Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in Downtown Orlando. After just 6 weeks of rigorous rehearsal, FSYO's 4 orchestras will take the stage to dazzle their audience with their professional quality performance of some of classical music's finest pieces.
The orchestras – Overture Strings, a string training orchestra with performers 7 to 14 years old; Prelude, whose musicians are age 9 to 15; Philharmonia, featuring 11 to 18-year-olds; and Symphonic, a pre-professional group whose members are age 13 to 20 – will present works from composers including Sibelius, Wagner and Shostakovich.
While enjoying the music, audiences will be introduced to a somewhat new FSYO conductor line-up. Mr. Matthew Davis has moved up from Prelude and taken over the role as Philharmonia conductor, with Ms. Sarah Morrison and Maestro Andrew Lane remaining with Overture Strings and Symphonic, respectively. FSYO has also brought Orlando Philharmonic Principal Violist, Dr. Mauricio Cespedes, on board to conduct the Prelude Orchestra. Dr. Cespedes on his debut performance with the FSYO:
