We are thrilled to announce that the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras’ Symphonic Orchestra has been named the 2024 Orlando Weekly Best of Orlando Award winner for Best Chamber Ensemble! This incredible honor is a testament to our young musicians' hard work, talent, and dedication, who have continually impressed audiences with their exceptional performances.
In addition to this prestigious win, we are also proud to celebrate the Alphonse Carlo Jazz Band, which placed 3rd in the Best Jazz Act category. This recognition highlights the versatility and excellence of our music programs, as well as the commitment of our students to their craft.
The Symphonic Orchestra’s achievement in winning Best Chamber Ensemble is particularly meaningful to us. It reflects the passion and energy our members bring to every rehearsal and performance. Under the guidance of our Artist staff, these young musicians have developed into a cohesive and dynamic ensemble, capable of delivering powerful and moving performances that resonate with audiences across Central Florida.
The Alphonse Carlo Jazz Band’s top-three placement in the Best Jazz Act category is equally impressive. This group has consistently showcased the vibrant, improvisational spirit of jazz, and their recognition by Orlando Weekly is a well-deserved acknowledgment of their talent and hard work. Last season, the Alphonse Carlo Jazz Band also won the Most Spirited Band and Culture of Improv Excellence award at the 2024 Essentially Ellington Regional Festival at Dr. Phillips Center (Orlando, FL).
We couldn’t be prouder of our students, who represent the future of music in our community. These awards are not just a win for FSYO but a celebration of the arts in Central Florida. They underscore the importance of youth music education and the impact it has on our cultural landscape.
