Orlando, FL - June 5, 2025 - Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras (FSYO) is preparing to take over 50 young musicians on an international concert tour through Japan this summer. Before they represent Florida on the world stage, these exceptional young musicians will showcase their tour repertoire in a send off performance that is free and open to the public. Please join FSYO’s Tour Orchestra and Tour Jazz Band on Wednesday, June 18th at 7:00 p.m. at the Valencia College School of Public Safety Building for this special performance.
Following the performance, tour members will depart for Japan on Monday, June 23rd, and will spend 12 days traveling and performing across the country. The tour will feature FSYO's Tour Orchestra and Tour Jazz Band, with performances scheduled in various locations beginning in Urayasu City, Orlando's sister city. A sister city partnership represents a long-term cultural and economic relationship between two communities. Urayasu is notable for Tokyo Disneyland, while Orlando is well-known for its many theme parks, including Walt Disney World. This sister city relationship was officially established in 1989.
FSYO will then continue on to perform in Gifu City and Hiroshima. Each concert will include collaborations with local Japanese orchestras, such as the Urayasu Youth Orchestra, Gifu University Orchestra, and the Higashihiroshima City Kurara Junior Orchestra. You can follow along to each of the performances in Japan by watching the livestream that will be streamed directly from FSYO’s YouTube channel.
In addition to engaging musical performances, FSYO tour members will have the opportunity to explore Japanese culture. During the tour, members will attend a performance by the Kyoto Symphony, visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, and experience traditional Japanese cuisine. FSYO remains committed to maintaining musical excellence by offering young musicians the highest quality educational experiences such as these once in a lifetime trips.
